QR Code Scanning

Do transporters scan the QR code through the app or through another QR code reader on their phone?

Transporters will scan the QR code through the eNVD app.

Why are there multiple QR codes for the transporter to scan?
Due to the large amount of information to be shared, multiple QR codes are generated by the app. As the QR codes are being scanned, the app will cycle through the QR codes until they are all scanned. The grey dots beneath the codes indicate the number of QR codes to scan. As each QR code is scanned, the indicator bar below the camera will change to blue. 
 
You can adjust the QR code granularity to help with larger transfers.  

Transporter Registration and Usage

Are transporters required to sign up for myMLA to use the eNVD app?
It is recommended transporters register for a myMLA account to access eNVDs. Transporters who have a myMLA account will be able to automatically view a consignment when their myMLA email is added as the transporter in a consignment.
 
Before using the eNVD app for the first time, transporters need to complete a short three-step process to receive eNVDs: 
 
  1. Register for a myMLA account. Access this guide: Link myMLA account
  2. Login to the eNVD system and complete the onboarding process to set up your eNVD profile.
  3. Select ‘Yes’ to the question ‘Are you a Livestock Carrier?’.

This will ensure you are set up as a transporter in the eNVD system and can be added to consignments. 

Guest login: Transporters can also receive and transfer eNVDs offline via the guest login. 
Do we need mobile reception to use the app? (Transporters)
Internet access is required to download and log in to the app via your myMLA account. While digital consignments can be created and transferred offline, you can only login to your myMLA account when you have internet access. So, the app must be opened and loaded with consignments while connected to the internet. Leaving the app open on your phone allows for offline transfers in the yards. 
 
To sync submitted consignments and make them visible to the receiver, the app must be opened with internet connectivity. 
Will livestock inspectors and police be able to read eNVDs?

Police and transport inspectors who have the eNVD app installed can sign in as a "guest" and scan the QR codes to view the consignment details. Alternatively transporters can show the officer or inspector the consignment details on their own device.

eNVD Signing Process

There are two steps for signing an eNVD.
 
Part A
First, the producer must sign the eNVD, as it serves as a declaration confirming compliance with LPA requirements and accuracy of the document. LPA NVDs are legal documents and part of record keeping, subject to audit. 
 
Part B
Second, the livestock transporter completes the Transporter Section, either digitally via their app or on the printed eNVD. If signing digitally they can: 
 
Scenario 1: "The transporter has a myMLA account and his/her myMLA email has been entered into the transporter section of the consignment" 
They can login to their account on the app and sign and complete their section. 
 
Scenario 2: "The transporter has the app but no myMLA account" 
They sign in as a guest, sign and complete the consignment on the producer’s app, and you can share the consignment digitally via QR codes generated on the app. 
 
Scenario 3: "The transporter doesn’t have the app" 
The transporter can complete and sign the eNVD on your app and then you can generate a PDF and email or SMS the document to the transporter. 
 
If using eNVDs is not preferred, the eNVD can be printed for manual completion. If incomplete, print, complete, and sign the eNVD by hand. Keep the signed paper copy for the journey, as per state requirements. Remember to update the electronic version later if you print and complete the eNVD manually. 

Transporter Roles in Different Scenarios

What is the process when the transporter is both the seller or receiver?
Scenario 1 – Seller and Transporter are the same
In this case, you will need to complete the transporter section with your details and sign the transporter declaration before submitting your consignment. Once you arrive at your destination, the receiver can access the submitted consignment via their eNVD account accessed either through the app, or by logging into the web-based system through their personalised myMLA dashboard. It is also possible to access it directly here.
 
The consignment details can also be received by transferring it using the QR code function in the app or by emailing or sending an SMS with the PDF of your consignment.
 
Scenario 2 – Transporter and Receiver are the same 
If the transporter and receiver are the same, use your transporter account on the eNVD system to receive the consignment. You can view the consignment on the eNVD app under your receiver card (provided you have linked your NLIS account under your myMLA linked accounts). Alternatively, access your eNVDs via your NLIS account or logging in to the eNVD portal.
