New role‑based access strengthens security and flexibility in LPA accounts

Producers rely on a range of people, from farm managers and agents to family members and farm advisors, to help meet their Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) obligations. Until now, many have had little choice but to share their personal LPA login details when someone else needs to complete a task on their behalf.

A new update to the LPA system has changed that.

Integrity Systems Company (ISC) has introduced role‑based access within LPA accounts, giving producers greater control over who can view, manage, or action information without compromising account security.

A safer, more flexible way to manage LPA responsibilities

Previously, anyone invited into an LPA account received the same level of access as the account holder. This created challenges for producers who needed help with specific tasks but didn’t want to hand over full control of their account.

The new role‑based access model allows producers to assign one of two permission levels:

Primary

  • Full access to manage the account, complete eNVDs or NVDs, and make updates to biosecurity plans, property risks assessments or anything else that needs to be updated.
  • Ideal for trusted business partners or managers who share responsibility for LPA compliance.

Associate

  • Limited access designed for those who need visibility or the ability to assist with certain tasks but not full account control.
  • Useful for farm staff, agents, farm advisors or family members who support day‑to‑day operations.

This change means producers no longer need to share their personal login details, reducing risk and improving the integrity of their account.

Why the change matters

Strengthening access controls supports the broader goals of the red meat integrity system by ensuring accurate, secure and trustworthy information across the supply chain.

Role‑based access helps producers:

  • Protect their account by avoiding shared login details and reducing the chance of unauthorised or accidental changes
  • Improve accountability by giving each user the right level of access for their role
  • Maintain accurate records with clearer oversight of who is completing declarations or updates
  • Adapt easily as staff, seasonal workers or advisors change over time.

For many producers, this update will streamline how LPA responsibilities are shared across the business.

What producers should do now

ISC recommends that all existing LPA account holders review who currently has access to their account and assign the appropriate role to each user.

To update user access:

  1. Log in to your LPA account
  2. Navigate to User Management
  3. Review your current users
  4. Assign each person either a Primary or Associate role.

For step-by-step instructions on how to add Primary or Associate users, visit the LPA User Management Webpage.

New to LPA?

Producers registering for the first time will now see the updated process, which includes the ability to invite additional users and assign their roles during sign‑up. This makes it easier to set up your account correctly from the start.

To create a new LPA account, refer to the LPA Registration Guide or visit the LPA Registration Webpage.

Supporting integrity across the supply chain

LPA is a key component of Australia’s red meat integrity system, underpinning biosecurity, food safety, animal welfare and traceability. Accurate and secure account management is essential to maintaining the trust placed in Australian livestock producers by domestic and international markets.
