Integrity guidance for new red meat producers

If you have recently purchased a farm or property, and are farming sheep, goats or cattle, it’s important you understand the vital role you play in maintaining Australia’s world-leading red meat integrity systems.

Getting started

Set up your LPA account

Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) is a voluntary industry program for cattle, sheep and goat owners. If you are raising livestock purely for personal consumption, LPA-accreditation is not required.

However, if you intend to sell or process your livestock, you should be aware that the majority of Australian red meat processors and retailers require livestock to come from an LPA-accredited property.

LPA accreditation gives you access to LPA National Vendor Declarations (NVDs) and eNVDs, which should accompany your livestock consignments and enable you to declare that you have met the requirements of the LPA program.

Set up your NLIS account

Manage your livestock movements

All livestock movements must be recorded to ensure full traceability is always maintained. This will ensure the source of any biosecurity or food safety breaches can be rapidly identified and Australia’s reputation as a safe and reliable source of red meat is protected.
