CEO Message
While summer is officially over, I know many producers continue to face challenging conditions with floods and severe weather still impacting many parts of the country. If you are affected, this article provides some useful guidance and resources to help manage the impacts.
For those Queensland and Victorian producers now in recovery mode following earlier flood and fire events, I also wanted to flag the government support programs for those affected. Visit MyGov to see what help is available in your state.
Data Capability Program
In mid-February, I attended the EvokeAg conference in Melbourne where I launched MLA’s new NextGen Data Capability Program in partnership with Charles Sturt University.
The $2.4 million partnership will invest in the next generation of data specialists and accelerate the red meat industry’s digital transformation – helping strengthen Australia’s position as a world leader in traceability, transparency, and decision-making across the supply chain.
You can read more about the partnership in this month’s feature story.
Showtime for eNVDs
Sydney's Royal Easter Show is just around the corner, which means many producers will be preparing their animals for competition.
Over the past two years, we’ve worked closely with the Show's Cattle Committee to encourage cattle producers to adopt eNVDs when consigning their animals to the showgrounds.
This has been a huge success – particularly across the steer competition – and I hope to see more red meat producers consigning their livestock to the show using digital consignments. If you need any assistance completing your eNVD, please email info@integritysystems.com.au.
Alternatively, you can speak with the ISC Customer Service team on 1800 683 111, Monday to Friday between 8am and 7pm (AEST) or on weekends between 9am and 5pm (AEST). You can also access the ISC Chatbot seven days a week via our website or from your myMLA and LPA account pages.
Pests and parasites
Our Pest Control series concludes this month with an article on controlling fox populations. We commenced the series with a guide to controlling feral pig populations and, with wild pigs causing havoc in many parts of the country right now, I thought it was worth resharing.
We also have an article on managing cattle tick and tick fever following a recent cattle tick incursion.
Upcoming events
Our teams are back on the road attending events and this week you’ll find us at the Wilmot Field Day (near Dorrigo, NSW) on 4-5 March.
Visit the ISC Events page for more details on where else we’ll be throughout March and, if you’re in the area, come along to ask questions you might have or learn more about our programs.
In the meantime, I hope you find this edition of Integrity Matters useful.
Yours sincerely
Jo Quigley
