EUDR implementation date remains unchanged: Share your geolocation via LPA

The European Union Commission (EC) has released a new proposal for the implementation of the European Union Deforestation Regulations (EUDR).

Under the new proposal, the compliance date of 30 December 2025 remains unchanged, however a six-month transition period is proposed to operate until 30 June 2026 in relation to compliance checks.

During this transition period, EU country authorities will not be required to carry out checks on products under the EUDR and will only be able to issue warnings, rather than sanctions or penalties where requirements are not met.

What this means for Australia’s EUCAS-accredited producers

While the new proposal is still awaiting EU approval, EUCAS-accredited producers should prepare for the EUDR to come into effect on 30 December 2025, as planned.

Beef products now on the water and heading to EU markets will be subject to the EUDR. Products exported in March/April 2026 will arrive after the six-month transition period has lapsed and therefore be subject to the full requirements of the EUDR.

Compliance with EUDR requirements

To comply with the EUDR requirements, cattle producers – especially those in the EUCAS program - need to share the geolocation data for their Property Identification Code (PIC).

To facilitate this, the Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) program has developed a Geolocation Sharing tool that enables producers to easily opt-in and share their geolocation via a safe and secure platform.

Producers can read this article for more information on how to share their geolocation data and what that means.
