Keeping your Property Identification Code (PIC) details up to date is essential. Your PIC is the foundation of livestock traceability in Australia, it links animals to your property, enables NLIS transfers, and supports accurate movement records across the supply chain.
How to update PIC details
Only the registered PIC owner needs to update the details on the PIC register. If you don’t know who the current PIC owner is, you'll need to follow these steps:
Step 1: Identify the current PIC owner
If you’re unsure who currently holds the PIC, check the PIC register or contact your state department to confirm ownership.
Step 2: Contact your Department of Agriculture
Once the PIC owner has been confirmed, they’ll need to call or email the relevant state or territory department to request an update.
