Welcome to the first edition of Integrity Matters for 2026. I’m sorry to see the new year is off to a devastating start for many producers, with floods in North Queensland and fires in Victoria.

We understand how stressful these conditions can be, so we’re postponing audits and deferring reaccreditation deadlines for affected producers in Queensland and Victoria. Please read this month's lead story for more detail on this.

If you are affected or are concerned you may become impacted by these conditions, please review MLA’s resources for dealing with natural disasters and the ISC natural disaster response bulletins

Improvement to the LPA program coming in 2026

The Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) program has seen a number of improvements over the past two years, with the introduction of new tools and modules designed to enhance the value of the LPA program and make compliance easier.

We’ll continue this trend in 2026, with the introduction of a voluntary Hormone Growth Promotant (HGP) module due to be released in the first half of the year.

The existing LPA e-learning modules will also be updated, and new e-learning courses will be developed – making it easier for LPA-accredited producers to comply with their responsibilities under the program, as well as supporting their livestock agents and farm staff to understand and meet these LPA requirements.

Summer Lamb campaign

MLA's new Summer Lamb ad launched on 5 January, with the full-length commercial debuting as part of the Ashes coverage on Channel 7 and Foxtel when it was broadcast during the tea break.

After twenty years, Summer Lamb has become an Aussie icon and helped drive the popularity of lamb with its unique and humorous takes on contemporary issues.

In this year’s ad, Australia drops to 11th on the world’s happiest countries list and Aussie Lamb leads the campaign to help it reclaim a top 10 spot.

If you haven't already seen it, you can watch it here.

Upcoming events

Our teams will be back on the road attending events in February. I'd encourage you to visit the ISC Events page for more details on where we’ll be and, if you’re in the area, come along to ask questions or learn more about our programs.

Being prepared

In closing, I just wanted to remind everyone of the importance of ensuring your records are up to date and that you have your animal welfare and biosecurity plans, as well as your property risk assessment in place.

If you have been affected by the recent floods or fires and require guidance on continuing to meet your compliance obligations during a natural disaster, please refer to our ISC bulletins or contact the customer service team.

Yours sincerely
