Dairy QA changes

On 12 June 2025, the Dairy Quality Assurance (QA) program became a Dairy QA voluntary module within the Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) program.

Dairy producers WITH an existing Dairy QA link

If you have an existing Dairy QA link, you do not need to do anything. Your current Dairy QA link will automatically transfer to the new Dairy QA voluntary module.

During your next LPA reaccreditation, you will be asked to reconfirm your Dairy QA Licence Number and acknowledge the Dairy QA declaration as part of your LPA Self-Assessment.

Please note that ‘Dairy Cattle’ is no longer listed as a species in LPA accounts and this will be updated to ‘Cattle’. If you had previously selected ‘Dairy Cattle’, this information will be stored as ‘Additional Information’ in your LPA account.

Dairy producers WITHOUT an existing Dairy QA link

If you are exclusively a dairy enterprise which only sends dairy cows or bobby calves for processing, you aren’t required to opt-in to the Dairy QA module. However, the benefits of completing the Dairy QA module include free LPA accreditation and an exemption from random LPA audits.

If you also have a beef cattle herd or manage a sheep or goat enterprise on your property, you are still required to pay the accreditation fee for LPA.

Opting-in: To opt-in to the new Dairy QA voluntary module in LPA, you will need to:

  • provide your Dairy Licence Number
  • confirm whether you also trade in beef cattle, sheep or goats, and
  • read and agree to the Dairy QA declaration.

Opting-out: You can opt-out of the new Dairy QA voluntary module at any time through your LPA account under the ‘Programs’ section.

LPA Audits

Dairy producers who participate in the Dairy QA voluntary module are exempt from random LPA audits. However, producers can still be selected for an LPA audit or a National Residue Survey (NRS) audit if any issues are identified regarding your use of NVDs, the NLIS database or if any residue issues are identified with dairy cattle or bobby calves from your property.
